GETTING INVOLVED
  Become A Member

ST’s membership is open to everyone thus including students. ST puts on membership drives in order to increase our membership base, and help us become more financially independent. This requires people to call members who have let their membership lapse, and to solicit new members either by phone or door-to-door. This assistance is especially valuable as the support of our members, both physical and financial, is what allows us to perform our activities, and effectively deal with Botswana's environmental problems.

The benefits to ST’s membership are tremendous as one gets a satisfaction that he or she is making a positive contribution to Botswana’s environment. You also get invited to all ST activities and you receive all ST publications, which include amongst others the Annual report and Dikgang, an ST newsletter that currently comes out twice a year. If you are a member your shopping will never be the same at the Green Shop as you receive 10% discount in your purchases.

Apart from the above-mentioned benefits, you can opt to join a sub-committee. Somarelang Tikologo operates through four sub-committees namely (create a link to all sub-committees); Resource Conservation, PR & Fundraising, Waste Management and Environmental Planning, which members can actively participate in. You can enrol or choose one of the following memberships:

School Presentations

ST is always seeking to spread awareness of environmental issues to as many people as possible, and especially to our youth. To help spread this message, we encourage our members to organise or give environmental presentations to schools or other groups. If you are interested in presenting on a particular environmental topic, or you know of a group that would benefit from such a presentation, please contact the office.

Somarelang Tikologo Stalls

ST puts up stalls at many special events around Botswana in order to spread environmental awareness through distributing information and selling promotional items. We are always looking for people to help out in minding the stalls, and giving out information to passers-by. Some of the regular events that we set up stalls at include:

Event
Date
World Environment Day (WED) June 5
Environmental Fair The following Saturday after WED.

Trade Fair

Clean Up the World Campaign

NGO Week

Resource Material

ST develops a variety of environmental education resource material for both schools and the general public. These materials include publications, posters, fact sheets, pamphlets, and stickers. We are always seeking assistance in creating artwork, layout & design, and writing content for the resource material.

Event Representative

ST is often asked to attend special events around the country to commemorate environmental issues. Due to our limited human resources the office staff cannot always attend. In these instances we seek for dedicated members to represent Somarelang Tikologo at these events. Limited funds may be available to cover travel and accommodation costs if necessary.

Resource Centre

ST maintains an environmental resource centre of books, magazines, and videos on different environmental topics. As this is expanding, we are in need of assistance in organising and managing the resource centre materials effectively.
